I would like to think that I am yes, but seeing this pop up on my screen led me to think about how the internet has shaped my identity. I am clearly not the same person I was five years ago, and a lot of that can be attested to my participation with social networks. How I am perceived by others, who decides to talk to me, and they way people talk about me are dependent on my online identity. Someone looking at my facebook profile will have a much different idea of who I am as opposed to someone talking to me in person. This is why it is so easy to live multiple lives (online and offline). Perceptions can change with the click of a mouse.Obviously, I took the "Are you Scott Zinovoy" picture out of context, but it is still interesting to think about it. It was actually asking me to create some sort of Google profile. I decided not to do it, though. How many profiles can a person have, really? Before the internet, everybody only had one.
