Hulu Vs YouTube

When comparing Hulu and Youtube, one can easily detect differences in quality and quantity of videos. YouTube has worked at increasing higher quality resolution for their videos, but it has not become as standardized as Hulu, which benefits from advertising regularly before each video is played, or intermittently throughout an episode. YouTube has started introducing commercials along with ads, but they appear much less frequent, or they appear as a pop up on your video that you can remove/minimize.
I watched an SNL clip that I've actually seen before, but I thought it displayed how Hulu's structure distinguishes itself apart from YouTube. Hulu has the power to remove videos after they have been up for a month or more. The selection is constantly being expanded and also condensed. This can discourage one from regularly checking Hulu to see if a particular video or episode has been posted. Also, the number of episodes available varies by date, network, and show.
The YouTube video I selected was actually on my favorites, but I haven't watched it in a while. It appears that episodes or even full movies can be seen on YouTube with minimal to no commercials. Much of the content is from television, film, radio, or user generated content. You can see a lack in quality in some videos, like the one I watched, even thought it was derived from a television sports network. It appears that more HD quality videos are on the rise for YouTube.
Hulu and YouTube are in opposition with one another, but it seems like Hulu has a more structured and commercialized nature to adapt TV and film into the internet world. YouTube acts more democratically since people can upload their own videos and not just content that is from traditional media.
