The video above features the lovable, yet defunct puppet, Warren the Ape, spending a night on everyone's favorite website, Chat Roulette. I had the pleasure of editing that video before it was placed on MTV's website and various other outlets. As you can imagine, I had to weed through hours of footage in order to come up with a few minutes of humorous, appropriate material. Therefore, I spent most of my time looking at penises, weird masks, and various other "creative" people. I must say it was one of the most interesting days of my internship, but after watching someone else spend all that time on Chat Roulette, I had no interest in ever going on the site again. I dabbled in CR during my semester in Rome. Some of my friends told me about it, so I went on to try it. The first time on the site, I came across one of my friends back in Madison. Then later I ran into someone I hadn't seen in years. Who knew Chat Roulette was really just a site forcing awkward interactions between acquaintances.
I gave up the site pretty quickly, as I discovered there were many other ways I could be spending my internet time. I feel like most people gave up on it after a while. Either because the penises just got too hard to handle, or because most random conversations , if we can call them that, end up being no more than a way to waste some time and some bandwidth. The site is a fad, and like all fads, it too will soon be gone.
I am totally jealous of your internship, and it sounds like you've had a lot of experience with CR. Next time, try making your in-post links "clickable" using the blog tools, too!
