Michael Aaron Hoffman: Can you get more generic?

Google Search: Michael Aaron Hoffman

Michael Lynne Hoffman (first Wikipedia result): (born November 30, 1956) is an American movie director.

Michael Aaron Hoffman II (second Wikipedia result): (born 1954, New York), is an American journalist and self-described "heretical writer," others have classified him as a conspiracy theorist and a Holocaust Denier. Hoffman is the managing editor of the newsletter Revisionist History.

Honestly what are the chances that the most famous Michael Hoffman’s are in two professions I am aspiring to take hold of; I’m majoring in both Radio, TV, Film and Journalism. Although I am not a Holocaust denier or born in the 50s I thought it was pretty ironic…

After Googling my name, one of the more generic names in the country, I decided to get a little interesting and look at it from a potential employers perspective. What could they find out about the Michael Aarron Hoffman, born April 18th, 1989 in Chicago IL? Typing in “Michael Hoffman Chicago” got me no where.

However, once I typed in “Michael Hoffman Madison” or “Michael Hoffman Deerfield,” there I was, five searches down. I was happy to see that the link was to my LinkedIn profile, which is my most professional, least embarrassing public profile. This was extremely relieving. As far as Google images goes, the only image that was shown was my appropriate photo displayed on my linked in profile. It was the first Google image when I typed “Michael Hoffman Deerfield”…pretty sweet.

Nothing too exciting happened during this exercise. I would first off like to thank Facebook. For all the junk they get from users about privacy concerns the fact that NONE of my pictures popped up on the most used search engine is not only astonishing, but puts me more at ease.
