I think I didn't hit the typical trashy teenager group, because I went in through my sister's MySpace music because I know she has a page to promote her album. So, luckily, I didn't really have to see all of the thirteen-year-olds dressing like hookers. However, I was frustrated with MySpace, yet again, because of more practical reasons, such as the disorganization; the fact that anyone can post anything in practically any order, was just annoying. MySpace looks the same as when I first got a profile maybe five or six years ago, (note to self: double check that's deleted...) and I remember my friend saying that I had to get facebook because it was "better." All I thought was, "How could it be better? It's the same thing." Well, obviously, I know now. It's interesting how this parallels what we talked about in lecture, facebook seems to follow, at least more than MySpace, a print tradition with an duplicate-able order to things, and rectangular format. It's clean, clear (..”and under control.” hah sorry couldn't help that), so therefore easy to use. MySpace users on the other hand are so busy with their technicolor backgrounds that I can't even read what's on their profile! (ha did I sound old there?) I feel like most people like things predictable when it comes to technology. That is a lot more user-friendly, sort of related to the idea of making things familiar like the “desktop, folder, document” metaphors to get people more interested and less afraid of computers.
I'm not used to Comm Arts classes being this interesting.
