I've been nosing around Bebo a little more tonight and I've discovered a type of point system. Under my profile picture, there's an option to "BUY!" with a listing of "27 Points" next to it. I think maybe I've noticed it before but never looked into it further. I clicked on it, and discovered that other users can buy my profile pictures! I scrolled through a few of the pictures and I'm actually really weirded out. I don't get the point of this! It's an app on Bebo, but I didn't download it so I think it just comes with everyone's profile. There are so many dirty, nasty pictures that people put up, and I can see how some girls that use Bebo make it a competition to see who can put up the sleaziest pictures and rack up points when people buy them. I bought a couple normal pictures, like one of a flower and one of a cartoon elf. It used the points I've gained from playing games to pay for the pictures, and then I could make a caption for the ones I bought. If you want to "Lock" the picture so nobody else can buy it or change its caption for 24 hours, you have to give them your credit card number. The worst part? A icon pops up that shows the last person who bought the picture, and a lot of the sleazy girl pictures were bought by an 80 year old, wrinkly man! If anything, this discovery just made Bebo ten times creepier than I thought it was, and I wasn't even that impressed in the first place.
