Getting Started - Kongregate

Okay, so I'm really not a big gamer. We never had video games growing up. Then I decided I really didn't like video games when all my guy friends started having Halo parties and then inviting me. Not fun if you're not playing...

I decided to give gaming another chance. I discovered very quickly that I'm not awesome at online games, but I got better as I kept exploring the site.

First I created a profile and added an avatar image. On your profile page there is a section of "recommended games" to get you started within the sites. For a "newbie" like me this a really helpful way to begin. I poked around at a few different games trying to get the hang of it. My first game was called Cursed Treasure: Don’t Touch My Gems! Awesome pirate music accompanied the game while I played. The goal is to protect your treasured gems from other pirates. When they steal them from you they laugh. At first I thought these were other actual players laughing at me. Then I realized it was just part of the game. Phew. The game speeds up as you continue through. This game was was recommended for me and I found that each game has instructions and the beginning level ones even have tutorials with captioned boxes as seen below.
My next goal is to utilize the chat button I found within each game. Maybe I'll even try to add some friends within the system.
