Practicum-Scott Zinovoy

I was fortunate enough, thanks to Liz, to attend a sort of free trial of the Aris software. One major problem with this free trial was that I do not own an ipod or itouch, but lucky for me, the great people behind Aris were nice enough to lend me one of theirs. Myself, along with a couple of interested gamers, sat down with the creators at a nice table in the union. They explained to us the motivations behind the games and how the software works. I was really there to have a chance to use it, which I actually got to do during a one on one session with one of the creators, Dave. Together we went on a journey playing the brand new game, Madison Tower Defense. During this game, we had to use the Iphone Gps to track down a package and bring it to a drop off point without getting caught by the bad guys. The game itself was very new and could definitely use some changes. However the most interesting thing was how after starting the game, Dave spotted a glitch. We went back inside, opened up the editing software, and quickly fixed the problem. I could instantly see the change take place on the iPhone, which I found the be remarkable. Imagine if changes like this could take action right away in other games and activities. This experience was very worthwhile. More on this to come.
