I’ve never been one for online games or computer games generally. So being out of the loop as I am, I had never heard of Plants vs. Zombies. And it was a little challenging for me to understand. I didn’t catch on to the strategy right away (or maybe even at all…) and it was difficult for me to understand all of the parts of the game in context. I would get really caught up in planting sunflowers and then forget about the pea shooters. And the cherry bomb was cool, but I could never catch it when it appeared! And I didn’t really understand what the potato was doing, or how to use the shovel (that’s about the level where I stopped).
I didn’t find the game addicting because these types of games aren’t fun for me. Instead I just get confused and frustrated! I think I would have enjoyed the game more if there were written instructions (maybe I missed them, but I couldn’t find any). Learning each element’s purpose by trial-and-error was tricky for me, especially since you couldn’t see some of the variables in isolation. I would have liked it more if there were some glossary of what each thing did or a way to clarify certain objectives.
