Hulu on the other hand is essentially streaming television on the Internet. It allows visitors of the site to watch assorted NBC, ABC, and Fox television shows at home and on their computer. I find it extremely convenient for those who do not actively watch tv shows in their first broadcast. I watched the new episode of 30 Rock that I missed in its original broadcast and aside from buffering problems I had little trouble. I like that they offer to show you a 2 minute ad at the beginning or several shorter ads throughout the video. But I usually watch my favorite tv shows when they originally air, so I find little need for Hulu; although it is a cool website and a great concept.

Youtube vs. Hulu
I find it interesting that both of these websites have in some way supplanted other media. In my experience, Youtube has been almost explicitly used for entertainment- i.e. watching people do stupid/weird things. It kind of reminds me of America's Funniest Home Videos without Tom Bergeron making crappy dad jokes. I watched a video of a chicken man playing "What is Love?" on a melodica and was both amazed and amused. It seems that Youtube has become an outlet for people to show the interesting parts of everyday life - viral videos almost always seem to be of real people doing unrealistic things (like that guy who got hit by an ice cream truck while trying to dougie).
