effectiveness of epicurious

So I'm browsing the website... and I feel as though this site, in terms of collective intelligence is rather one-sided. Although people go to the site and add their own information, when someone has to look up a recipe, it seems to me that they go to the "professionals'" sources. It's just interesting that they all come together to share the information but still regard the experts as the experts.
