First, what is “computerized”?

I had a little difficulty with this assignment because I wasn’t sure what to all categorize as “computerized”. I encounter a lot of technology on a regular basis, but I wasn’t sure what hardware constitutes as operating like a computer. Certainly I used my laptop this evening (currently as I write this blog post, in fact). But when I go online and use a service like Skype or download anything from a website, my computer interacts with many computers through a mutual server. Therefore I potentially interact with many computers that are not my own.

Besides my laptop itself, this evening I used a couple other computerized-type technologies. I used my cell phone to make calls and send text messages but also on occasion to access the internet. I also used my camera to transfer pictures onto my laptop. And I listened to my Ipod as I walked home from the library. This assignment got me thinking what in my house that I take for granted that may be computerized. An example of this may be my home’s security system, though I don’t know if there is an outside computer monitoring system. So it’s more than likely that I am missing examples and that I take much computerized technology for granted. It just depends on what we decide it means to be “computerized”.
