Blogging vs. Facebook

So as my practicum project advances, I've noticed a couple differences between the blogosphere and other online interactions in which I participate frequently.

I think the most obvious difference I've noticed is that conversing with people is much harder on blog sites than on, say, Facebook. Not just for the lack of chat function, but just in general people seem much less interested in connecting with others. I've commented on at least 20 different blogs and I've gotten ONE response.

This tells me that people are using blogs more for themselves and not as a social outlet. I also think that blogging/reading other blogs has a much larger information-sharing aspect than other social media. People look at other blogs about topics of interest for tips and to learn from similar others' experiences. From what I know of Facebook, this isn't really how the outlet is most used (even though the option of groups and likes are present). Interesting.
