I was surprised that my Twitter account appeared so high up on the list, and that anyone Googling me could see it. It kind of weirded me out, since my dad is psycho and Googles me all the time to make sure I haven't gotten into any kinds of shenanigans up here, and that means he's probably seen it. But I don't mind - I don't really use Twitter, so there's nothing interesting to see there. But I asked him about it, and he had seen it, but admitted that he only went on to mine so he could see what my brother was up to, since he didn't know how to access it otherwise.
The one thing that I did focus on was my LinkedIn profile - another social networking site that I have an account on, but don't really use (I'm pretty exclusive to Facebook). I'm in the process of applying for jobs and realized that potential employers probably are Googling me to see what comes up, and my LinkedIn profile is high on the list - and it's not updated. That's something I'll have to get around to doing, because the last job listed on there is my internship from two years ago.
The last thing I found was links to websites like this one - class blogs. I found links for two blogs that I'm currently in for classes, and provides open access to the comments I write on them (though thankfully not this one). So now, I have to worry about what I'm saying in my reading response posts, to make sure I don't say anything about the industry that potential employers might not like. It's actually really limiting.
The one thing I've always liked about my name is that it's so unique - I have yet to even hear of another Stephanie Breslof out there in the world. But in Googling myself, I kind of wished that my last name was Smith or Brown or something more common - because it's painfully obvious that all of the search results are about me. Makes it easy for other people I guess.
